Sneaky Cheats, Sunday Treats by Sean Berrigan

_DSC2301.jpg

It's been awhile since i've made a blog update. As always, I was fortunate enough to take in another smoke out BBQ with my buds here in Charlottetown last sunday. Sneaky Cheats PEI is a craft catering service my good friend Nigel Thompson just started here on PEI. We convinced him to get the guys together for our buddy Skye's birthday and have a lazy Sunday BBQ with the Sneaky Cheats smoker. I've been vegetarian since the first of July (never thought I'd see the day), but sadly I have to admit I caved super early and tasted a lot of these smoked treats Nigel and the guys cooked up. It was well worth it to say the least! haha

We smoked fresh salmon with a lemon, brown sugar and herb rub which was probably the star dish of the day. There were smoked back ribs, smoked bologna sandwiches, some great kale salad, geese, and oh I almost forgot, there was a smoked brie wheel melted over top of some incredible smoked beef.  Below are some images from throughout our day. Cheers!

Sneaky Cheats Smoked-Out PEI Summer Launch BBQ by Sean Berrigan

One of my favourite communal foods is hands down southern BBQ. My buddy Spencer spent 8 months designing and welding this insane custom smoker for our day one homie and chef extraordinaire Nigel Thompson. Spencer and his fiancé Abby were nice enough to allow Nigel to throw a super dope summer BBQ party which featured the Sneaky Cheats smoker at their home in Charlottetown. Nigel and friends cooked up some mind blowing slow and low smoked pork, chicken, salmon and some mind melting steaks to fulfill everyones imbibing needs. Nigel topped off the night of drinking with a mouth watering (literally) smoked Bologna sandwich platter which was chopped up in to personal slices and disappeared in a whole 10-seconds (I think I got a bite of somebodys).  All in all there were plenty of incredible food, refreshing drinks, lots of wu-tang and some great friends made for a very warming PEI house party.

Exploring A Few Small Streets in Boucherville, Quebec by Sean Berrigan

Over the holidays, we've been fortunate enough to explore areas of Quebec, which we normally wouldn't venture, and it's been a great experience thus far.  There is an small town on the south shore just east of Montréal called Boucherville, which has an impressive number of older victorian'esque style houses and small streets. There is a coffee shop/bistro/boutique in a small square called Saint Laurent Café Boutique which houses a small, cozy yet very spacious space with high ceilings and a wood burning fire place. I left the house with a dead camera battery which wasn't the best but managed to fire of some shots before it died.
